No, I've ran them a lot further than that.
Greetings all and Merry Christmas,
I have a 1004 30hp Evinrude tiller on a 16' Triton. When I bought it the guy had the gas tank in front of the middle seat. I was told that it's not good for the fuel pump to have the tank that far away from the motor. I moved it back but it really crowds the back end of the boat. Any suggestions? Will it damage the fuel pump on the motor to put the tank 6 - 7 ft away?

should not make a difference.
Had mine that far away on an old boat I had never caused a problem.Old motor still running 10 years later.
Yep, am smart--- but I can't help it, That motor is over 1000 years old! Believe I would up date that thing.
Nice guy - point out an old man's mistakes, OK it's a 1994 evinrude not a 1000 year old 1004. Sorry about that.
