I've seen advertising for spray on bedliners coming in lighter colors. That would be the only way I would consider using those. The vinyl roll material, marine application, would be a good option. Be very careful of over cutting when installing, no nap of the carpet to hide mistakes. Best idea posted so far, IMHO, is to bite the bullet and buy some high quality marine carpet and install it right. Weldwood contact cement is what I've used in the past and it's a top notch products. Rough cut the material, glue most of the area to be covered and leave 6" around the edge un glued. Once the middle is good, no wrinkles or shift in material, glue around the edge and trim to fit. Use the adhesive wet so you have a chance to move it if necessary. When doing the edge, do 1 side at a time, IE; front, left side, rear, etc. If you want to make this very easy, buy a carpet installers razor knife with interchangeable blades. Cuts the material like butter with a crisper edge to butt together with each other. Careful to cut just the backing (from the back) and not the nap or you'll see the seams. Use a couple of cheap china bristle brushes to spread the glue, 3 or 4" for the big areas and 1 1/2 or 2" for the tighter stuff. You'll be a pro by the time you're done. Good luck and tight lines......Tim

I have installed vinyl on both of my boats and I recommend it. Cool to the touch and easy to clean.

I read an article on boat carpet installing, Instead of glueing the whole floor glue the edges and it will be easier the next time if needed, this worked on my boat and i could tell no difference from my daughters boat that i glued the whole floor, food for thought.
