Smile Tell me about my trolling motor please.

I've had this old Guy for years. He's moved three times with me.
I normally row my 12' V, but now I'm cosidering this old guy.
How much voltage...12 or 24? How many Lbs of thrust? How long does the battery last...etc.
This has two cables. A Red and Black. They are #6 or maybe #4's.

I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D

I have a johnson evinrude troll motor it is a 12-24 volt. look on the side of the foot petal there should be a switch labeled 12-24 toggle switch
I have 2 batteries for 24 volts it will run the troll motor a good 15 hours steady running
and will go great in a high wind it has a light built in the head for night operation.
look for the model that will help the most. To tell you if it is 12 or 24 volt but you can run either
    one on 12 volts..

    Great, thanks guys.
I'll wipe it down this am and test.
In this county the trolling motor dont count as a motor. I dont have to license the boat if I row or use the electric.
I have never used one before. I hope nobody has a movie camera on me when I get out there and try out the foot steering business.:p

    Cook,
Dad share-cropped on a farm near Plattsburg in the early 40's.
From that time, till I read your post, I never heard the word Plattsburg. I didnt think it existed as more than a crossroads.
I remember the mud so deep and thick I had to take my pants off to play in it, and I had plenty of Skunks and Turtles around the pond.

most troll motor repair places do not carry parts for it you have to go to a evinrude omc outboard marine to find them

for the drive pin for the prop and the prop.

The model number maybe on the foot petal on a tag there or under the foot petal

Ihave that same troller on my boat, 17ft javelin 366, and it appears by the pic i can the 12/24 switch on the left side of the foot control, you can also find parts at
MOTOR TECH - Trolling Motor Parts, Sales, Service and Repair needed mounting bracket for mine this spring when i ran into a stump and broke it this was the only place I could find one to replace it. overall its pretty darn nice troller moves my boat with no probs and scoots pretty good in 3rd gear!

Boy am I glad for your post Johnny.
    Thanks a bunch.

I looked, its a 25E-25. It has only two wires. A red n black so its probably just a 12V motor, 25 Lbs of thrust.

The Switch is missing. The whole switch is gone. Bracket and all, for the Foot stomping on/off command.
I'll see what you link has for me, if nobody has a used one laying around that I can rob the switch n' Bracket off from.

Don't know where you're fishing but according to the Alabama Game & Fish website, if you have a mechanically propelled vessel in Alabama, it has to be registered: "Alabama registers all mechanically propelled vessels" is quoted on their website under Boat Registration. I know a friend of mine was up in the Flint River in a canoe with a trolling motor on it and he got a ticket for not having registration.

    Just thought I'd warn you.
