    Question Lake Needwood access ?

    Good day all,
I've got a rigged kayak that is just dying to get in the water and catch some fish. Someone told me the other day that Needwood might be a good place.
However, they weren't able to tell me about access.
Could anyone steer me in the right direction? I am always a bit cautious when going somewhere new and not knowing if there there are any restrictions.
    Thanks in advance

Lake Needwood is in Montgomery County .. It's not far from the shady grove subway station... It's been a while since I've been there but there is still boat access... I've had beter luck at Black hills(sorry don't remember the name of the lake), and it's also boat accessible, with great crappie fishing among others.. It's great when the weeds come up . When that happens, work the weed edges in the evenings..

Best of luck to you !

I am getting fairly well accustomed to the Black Hills lake (Little Seneca). As of yet I haven't found very few crappie over 8", but I'm having fun 'yakking for them none the less.
Thanks for the tip, I'll be watching for the weed growth.

Glad to be of help !! I remember summer being awesome down there.. Especially around Rte 117, as the sun got low it got better there..

Just an FYI there are some BIG crappie in there, I've had some up in the 20's, but they weren't an everyday occurrence..

Watch for weird spot on the water.. Not sure how to explain it but when the crappie feed up there you can see the water looking nervous.. Also fish at the enclosed area opposite the in-park boat ramp..

    Default Needwood Access

You can enter either from Needwood Road or Avery Road; both of Muncaster Mill Road.
