    Default First fall crappie outing

I had a visitor from out of town with me last Friday after work and decided to go to a private pond. Upon arrival I was surprised how crystal clear the water was. We had to work at the crappie and bluegill to see what they would bite but had the best luck with a slow presentation of a dark orange tube bait under a bobber worked slow. We landed maybe 20 fish each in a couple hours releasing all of them. Most were on the smaller size with maybe 6 fish 9-10 inches. Made two charter boat trips trolling on the Choptank River the week before with limits of rockfish up to 34 inches.

Yes, friend caught a nice limit at the mouth of Tred Avon yesterday afternoon when the wind laid down. Some of the best crabs of the year caught now but no market every day.
