    Default Unfrozen river trip

Headed out to give it a try today. As I pulled out of the ramp I noticed the water temp at 36 degrees and ice in the small coves and along the shoreline. Found that amazing with the warm temps in the last few days and the deluge of rain. Must have been frozen solid last week.

Anyway dropped my jig in my usual first stop and had one within a couple of minutes, moved around quite a bit and caught fish everywhere I tried that was deeper than 10 feet. They were all on the bottom but surprisingly very willing to hit a cast jig, in fact most were caught that way. Had 5 big fat yellow perch up to 11 inches, a bass and a golden shiner. Also caught 20 crappie with the biggest at about 10 inches or just over. Its amazing after catching a crappie on one cast to hook a perch on the next and feel the difference in the fight. A crappie almost rolls on its side and gives up when hooked, these perch were running all around the boat, lol.

Check out the color of this bass from today, really pretty
