    Default New Member Introduction

Just wanted to introduce myself, joined a few moments ago. I'm a kayak fisherman in Harford County, MD. Mostly fish up and down the Chesapeake and local tidal water. My goal is to fish once a week throughout the entire year.....wife and job permitting. Favorite species are Stripers, Flounder, and Blues...but my true passion is white and yellow perch. I would trade a 12" perch over a 40" rockfish every time...so I think I'm in the right place!! I've only caught one crappie my entire life, I know it's pathetic but I'm looking to add more to my panfish addiction. My eyes are already bleeding reading the archives for technique and presentation. Glad to be aboard and hopefully I can contribute something useful down the road....Jeremy

Hi, crappie are a natural alternative to the perch. We are getting into the best time for crappie imo. Water is still too warm but they should be ganging up by January and you can catch lots without even moving.

Welcome aboard!! You have some good crappie lakes in your general area. Be sure to put Centennial Lake and Lock Raven Lake on your list to check out.

You will have plenty of spots within a very short paddle of the ramp. You should get into crappie and YP. I will be out of Mariner Sunday if we aren't hitting Rocky Pt to finish out the Striper season, all depends on the weather.

Good luck with the stripers, it's been an incredible year for me. It's hard to miss the last weekend of the season, but I'm determined to get a few crappie. I really miss wrapping my hands around an ultralight. I was on the Susquehanna last Sunday fishing the Perryville side, but no signs of the Yellow Perch...few more weeks of cold weather.

Welcome sparky. You got some good information. Yellow perch haven't hit the really deep portion of the Susky yet. Don't forget to post your catch.

    Good Luck
    Mike

I am getting the perch in 6-8' in the Middle River area now. Not lots, but fish to 11".
