They sure are pretty though.
Well the fish are in the shallows! After a long winter I finally caught a bunch of crappie up in shallow water. Surface temps were 62 this afternoon and they were there in decent numbers. It wasn't non stop spawn style fishing but they were up against wood in water under 4 feet deep. Also caught 2 pickerel and 3 bass. One of the pickerel was 27 inches and put up a good fight, the others were small.
As much as I like casting for crappie I like verticle jigging more and went out to the main river for some hunting. Found a couple of deep water (15 feet) brush piles and jigged up a bunch of nice ones. Decided to slow troll the edges on my way back to the ramp and caught a few more. Ended up catching 25 crappie and kept 14. None were huge but decent size to eat.
They sure are pretty though.

Nice mess of fish, congrats
WTG Zippy. The bite should be really picking up soon.
Thanks Mike, they are really swarming now. Three weeks ago I couldnt find a single fish in water under 12 feet. Check out this side scan screenshot I took yesterday and all the fish on the left side!
Thinking the fish on the left top are the crappie. The little school further down are small bluegills I think. When I cast to the bluegill spot I kept getting pickups and drops which is usually what happens when a small bluegill grabs the tail of the grub. Not sure what those striations are on the bottom. This is an old River channel that has filled in. Caught a 27 inch pickerel in there when I first started casting, great fight on light tackle. Funny face was for a friend who couldn't make the trip. I texted him almost every fish caught just to rub it in, lol.

Zippy, great catch bud! Looks great I can't wait till I start my catch!
I hope you get out soon! It's been fun all winter but I always get excited for spring, so nice to be out on the water when I'm not wearing 5 layers of clothes and gloves.
