Default March 26th on the eastern shore

Strong wind and rain but very warm today. Got out at about noon and fished till three. Best fishing in a few weeks, caught one bass, 3 big pickerel, and a bunch of crappie. The crappie are still deep and hanging very close to the flats and woody cover that we typically find them on durring the spawn. Just outside those areas at the first drop off near the main channel and suspended 6-8 feet down in 10 -13 feet of water. They were aggressive today but wanted the jig hanging straight down with little movement. Dangle it above their heads and thump they would take it with a solid tug. Caught quite a few nice ones in the 11 inch range and they were hooked deep. The pickerel were pretty big 22 - 24 inches and fat and lingering around the crappie schools. Some of the little crappie we caught had teeth marks on them.
