Yes, and don't forget the part about helping out stranded boaters. If we don't help , there is no one else. I rarely have a boat problem but this spring I had a battery problem with both batts at the same time. One guy wouldn't help me then some good guys came along and towed me in. They wouldn't take any money for their trouble and said just help someone else, which is code of the road as I well know. A few days later I was up the same creek and found a kid with a new boat stuck on a mud flat. We probly spent a half hour tugging him out of that mud. He even had to get in the water and push, and it was cold. I just told him well now you know what ya gotta do is help the next guy. And that guy that wouldn't help will probly get stuck on the water when there are no other boats around.

I'll always do a no wake pass when passing someone in a boat that is anchored or tied off if they are a fairly small craft and anchored parrallel to the bank. Narrow passages is automatic for everyone to me. Some of the smarter ones tie off and achor their back end towards the middle. It helps with the wake.

Saturday night, a group of 4 men in a pontoon boat took off towards the middle of the lake. I had overheard one of them ask if the others were ready to go before they left. I kept fishing and noticed they started and stopped, started and stopped. This happend at least 6 times. They were close to a mile away and smack dab in the middle of the lake. I reeled in and put things away and headed towards them. Once I got withing a half mile of them, I noticed some jug lines. That's all they were doing, setting jugs for the night. I went ahead and pulled along side of them to tell them I was coming to see if they needed help, but had noticed the jugs on the way to them. They had given me a strange look on my approach, but thanked me after I explained things. I was ready to take one of them with me and truck over to their ramp so they could bring their truck/trailer to the ramp near the bridge.

I no wanna be stuck, and we shouldn't eave anyone either.

You did the right thing respecting their fishing area with no wake. It's not that hard to do. Many times I do that, then the guy I gave respect to, rolls by me later with enough power to create a big wake. I've never had a problem showing someone they are number 1 either.

    Congradulations to all!
One time I was loading my boat on the trailer regretting the chore I had of cleaning the 60 or so bream after I drove over an hour back home. A young boy about 6 or 7 came up and asked me how my day went. I was transferring the fish from my live well to an ice chest for the ride home. He told me that he had been fishing all day long and only caught 3. I asked him how big they were hoping to hear a whopper. But, he said they were not big enough for the fish fry his family was looking foward to; and, his Daddy's boat was broke so "they couldn't get out to where the big ones were". I learned they were on a family camping trip for the weekend. I put all of the fish in a basket and sent him on his way with them. Watching him struggeling with that basket of fish with the big smile made me feel good for long afterwards.

I was fishing JR's on Weiss last spring. Kept 9 over 11" and decided it was lunch time. So I came, tied the boat up and noticed a young man (8) and his sister (11) fishing from the dock. I asked how they were doing and the boy proudly said that they had caught 3 nice ones. I asked, "are you going to have enough for supper? He replied no, but they hoped to catch more." I told his sister to bring over a 5 gallon bucket that was nearby, and I transferred the fish to the bucket. All they could say with each fish -"look at that. He is lucky" They took the bucket and went running up the hill saying "Dad, dad, we have supper. That nice man gave us these fish." The father did not look happy. Seem to say, darn I have to clean fish. I am sure the kids enjoyed their supper.

This brings up one of the best movies I saw. It was concered with " PAY IT FORWARD". What if we all did that? Chuck
