Try all depths you can. With luck, you'll come across a few fish. Welcome to the board and to Crappie fishing! Make it a point to test every peice of brush or stick up close to the bank in 3' or less of water. You might just come across some crappie bedding, or moving towards a bed. Good luck!

Just keep trying till you get into them and then switch all your rods over to the same depth

From a boat with Depth finder you can tell the depth, fish accordingly. Use a slip bobber setup. You can fish a slipbobber and keep working down untill you find what the depth they are at. Suggestion start at 3ft. and work down one ft. inclerments. Pop your bobber with tip of while retrieving bobber. Stop and go. Remember this, a crappie likes a moving target. Do this and you'll go home with a lot of fish. 50 yrs. experience.

    Str8lines,

Welcome to the forum. This time of year I'd go shallower than deeper...but if one does not work, vary the depth and the location you fish until you connect.
