I must have gotten good ones too. I've never changed one in any boat I've owned!
I pulled this up via search. I agree the walmart/attwood bulbs are crap. Plus they cost 18$. I see many different brands online for as low as 6-7$ has anyone tried buying online? Barron USA.? i think?

I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
Bought one from SIM Yamaha parts online. They have two types. One with metal barbs and the other with plastic. One stout primer bulb.
O'reilly auto parts store have to ask for them.(right length) They have a lot of outboard parts they can get and good prices. We buy or spark plugs here can buy a whole box for what you pay for one spark plug at a marine dealer.

I vote for the Larand Marine Primer bulb. Just make sure when you install it the arrow is up and pointing the right way. I've solved a lot of problems by simply reorienting primer bulbs so the arrow is up. Old timer once told me that the anti back flow valve is under the arrow and if its not pointed up, it does not function properly. The other thing I do and have since cleaning carbs due to internal line deterioration is add an in-line fuel filter as close to the motor as I can. If you see it accumulating lots of crud, time for some PM.
Johnson/Evinrude is what I use on our boats and have for the last several years when I've needed to replace one. Avoid anything with a screw in plastic fitting as they always develop air/fuel leaks over time.
Never had a problem using Yamaha stuff just pricey!

Some good suggestions here. Another one that might be effective for any of you folks who reside in the north country: when I put my boat in storage for the winter, I remove the gas line and bulb and drain the gas from it. Hanging it in the shed has worked well for me over many, many years.
