If I'm vertical jigging I want my jig horizontal same under a float if I use one.
the only thing I don't like about a loop knot is you get the line breaking much easier than a stationary knot, especially with 4 lb. line.

To me it doesn't matter if I'm vertical jigging or under a float. My jigs hang down presentation, presentation is important, as is the right depth. I only use 1&1/2in. tubes. Any color works if presented wright..
I always believed that the more horizontal the better, than i bought some custom jigs and spins shrimpo jigs that are totally vertical, I still caught fish. I do still prefer horizontal jigs. Sometimes fish are picky, but not always. As for the loop knot, I always say im going to start using it but never do and i still catch more than anyone else in the boat normally.

For a vertical presentation, i.e. rod in holder (drag rod) while I cast with another, I have found that I stop getting hits if the jig is not horizontal. When I suddenly stop getting hits after I've caught a fish on my drag rod, I check where the knot is and reposition so the jig hangs horizontal, and the hits start back up. For casting, I use a slow, steady retrieve, and have never seen any difference since the motion through the water keeps the jig pretty much horizontal throughout the retrieve.
