Yes they got caught breaking the rules. Thats bad but when they lied about it made it worse. Then to take the prize money knowing they cheated and was caught. C.A.S.T. did right banning them for life.

You got it right Duane. These guys coulda made an excuse like "We didn't know" or "My watch stopped and I was guessing the time" or most any kind of BS. Then they could have withdrawn from the tourney and everybody would have retained a shred of respect for them. The lie is what revealed them as slimeballs. I'll bet the slimiest of the two is pointing his finger and blaming the other one. One lie just brings on another. What made em do it? The money. A desire for reputation? Well, they sure got a reputation now. Both CAST and Ripa did the right thing.

I hope the other organizations ban them also. I agree that the lie is what pushed them to bottom of the bottom feeders. Cheaters suck but liars are the leeches on the cheaters if ya get my drift.. I can tell you when "the man" asks a question.. he is often asking questions he knows the answer to... and is just checking to see if you are gonna lie.. lieing takes all descretion away. press hard.. 6 copies... bu-bye.

If its get banned for life or just fish that day for fun it's not much of a choice. Aslong as I'm fishing (tournament or not) I'm happy. It would be better to give up the tourny then have no one on the water trust you again. If they dared accept that check with out signing it over to charity then they will probaly never catch another crappie again.

Guess it proves some people will do anything to win huh. If they knew they were so bad at fishing they had to cheat then why enter a tournament. They probaly did not just cheat by starting early but probaly did all the other ways to cheat mentioned in this thread too.

    Default money,money,money

money takes the joy of fishing and turns it into who can one up each other. that is, unless you are a man of leisure who don't have to worry about money cause you got plenty or are using someone elses. the love of money is the root of all evil. look it up.

if i was these two i'd quit crappie tourney fishing and join b.a.s.s. they promote cheaters like iconelli. hell, you can get a big contract from a sponsor and not have to worry about winning tourneys. all you gotta do is be a whore for your sponsor and yell and scream everytime you catch a fish. :D

I hear you, bro. The only crappie tournament I ever fished, I ended up
with a bad feeling - I guess I should have asked beforehand, but I figured
it would pay out at least 2 or 3 places, it turned into a winner-take-all
thing - what really hacked me off though, was it was supposed to be a
help-clean-the-fish and then help-eat-them thing... I stayed at the
cleaning station with another guy washing fillets for 2 hours 'cause the
winners and all the rest ran off to get a beer and didn't come back.
Then, they put all we cleaned in the freezer and fed us thawed fish,
by the time I got done helping cook, all the frozen crappie was gone
but for a few pieces, and they were full of bones - sloppy filleting.
Fool me once, shame on you... won't be back next year.
