Thanks CP for the research, we just had that discussion at our recent get-together as this question was answered by our state fisheries biologist, I've caught several of them and they hit/fight hard every time....a great fish in my book.
The Magnolia Crappie is a hybrid cross between a Blacknose & White Crappie. It's a triploid hybrid ... non-reproducing. Charlie Capps Lake is the only place it's stocked, according to the latest info I can find. The record is from 2004 and weighed 3.46lbs (from that lake)
Again, they use the genetic marker of the Blacknose, to be able to identify with
