We like to show and hunt with our American Bulldogs, here's a old timer we just lost this year and he was a good one that caught many hogs.
Thanks for the comments.
Bill, all of the metal parts are bought. The wood, antler, acrylic or what ever is turned on a wood turning lathe and cut freehand to whatever size and shape desired. The first one is made of wood from Australia. A trading buddy sent me some of it and I used his design on this one. The young man who helped him get this wood from it natural state got killed on his way home after a game one night. This design was made for his sister and teammates in remembrance by my buddy. I make these and give them away to people who are hurting as his sister is. My promise to him was to pass this young mans story to whoever receives a pen.
The second one is dyed box elder burl. Which means it made of wood that been colored and stabilized by soaking it in some plasticizing solution.
The third is made up of wood and acrylic segments glued together and then turned. This takes a lot of planning to get it right.
The last one. This one is made of desert ironwood and the base is from redwood stumps dug out of the ground in northern California and is thousands of years old. I made three like it. One for each partner of a group of entrepreneurs of which my son is one. It just so happened the Paulo died in a plane crash a few months ago in CA.

Raising and hunting Coonhounds and Beagles. Running lines in the river. Used to love to deer hunt, but I only went once or twice this year. Youth wrestling took up a lot of our winter this year, as my son turned 5 in August, and we got him started.
That's a heck of a talent their gene... those pens are gorgeous.
As for my hobbies, I am a body builder (although this broken shoulder has forced me out of the gym for a while) and I spend about 12-14 hours a week in the gym pounding weight, or at home eating or walking on a treadmill.
Fishin' fills the time until College football season
My hobby is building things. Furniture cabinets and other things made from wood. Here is one of my projects from last winter.

Gene I have them Elk antlers for when ever your ready. My hobby is homing Pigeons. We race them up to 500 miles. I Jet boat in Hells Canyon, which is part of the Snake River, Clearwater River, Salmon River. All these areas I fish for Sturgeon, crappie, Bass in the Snake River, Salmon in the Salmon River and Clearwater for Salmon and Steelhead. Leaving Monday 23 for the Clearwater after Steelhead. We caught 14 last month brought home 6 fish.
Fishing, making jigs, flies, spinners, leaders weights and whatever else for fishing. Make my own crab and crawdad traps. Aquariums are a lot of fun but can't catch the types of fish I keep. I have a succulent garden and I grow anything I can from apple trees to roses. I have 3 children under 10 years of age and they are by far my favorite and most time consuming hobby but I wouldn't have it any other way. Just don't tell my wife I think it is a hobby or she will think I am not taking it seriously.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.
Tom it's a learned talent much like you and your electronic. Of course like with any other, it take a certain amount of natural ability and desire.
Creekslick, I sure like you woodie wagon. If I remember right from when you posted it before, its a mini camper. It's a very nice design and well planned.
Ken, thanks for holding that antler for me. I'll be moving back into the house soon. Then I'll get my equipment move into the new shop. I've lived with hurricanes all my life but never thought one could interrupt one's life in so many ways.
LSUguy, thanks for the comments.
