At least this administration is trying to look for alternatives to help the economy. This was never a serious consideration and was just brought to the table for discussion. This is how intelligent people solve problem. Bring up ideas and discuss them and consider all alternatives. EB

It was being seriously considered by the administration. It was serious enough to warrant this letter from eleven veterans' groups:

After meeting with the groups, Obama assured them this was the plan. After the meeting, the American Legion commander was angry and said there was no way to stop it unless the administration changed their minds:

"It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan," said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. "He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it...."

"I got the distinct impression that the only hope of this plan not being enacted," said Commander Rehbein, "is for an alternative plan to be developed that would generate the desired $540-million in revenue...."

The American Legion Strongly Opposed to President's Plan to Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment

Thankfully, this horrible idea was scrapped.

Told you this wouldn't go far before all H broke loose!!!!!!!!!

rocket rich - first is this for a service connected condition or non-service connected condition, or are you a full retiree??? If service connected you won't pay anything. If you are having stuff looked at that isn't part of your service connected you

"There is an $8 copay for each 30-day or less supply of medication provided on an outpatient basis for treatment of a nonservice-connected condition. Copays for medication are charged only for outpatient treatment."

Outpatient Prescription Copay (VA Health Care Eligibility & Enrollment)

Example ME - Okay I have three things that are service connected, I get my meds for nothing.

If I were to have the Doctor check me and it shows that I had pneumonia or bronchitis and he prescribed something for it, I'd have to pay the $8 dollars
