crappieseeker i got my 12 volt trouble light at an auto parts store and it will last all night on a car battery.
AtticaFish, as far as the light sticks on my bobbers go, for one thing they are very expensive if you night fish alot, which I hope to do again maybe. Also, the water i am fishing is a spill out with heavy water flow and current hitting it when it reaches the river drop, therefore it knocks the float around alot and also pulls it a little under the water at times even when i fish is not on it. So the light sticks work some but not nearly as well as i need and they get knocked off sometimes by the pull of the fish in the heavy current. Also the head lamp wont quite get the job done for what i need. Thanks for your help. CrappieKillerJigs, i cant run any water lights or floating lights, have no way to get them out away from the bank and the swift current would take them away, as far as the spotlights, what kind of batteries do you use and how long will the lights run on the battery, also how do you have them wired? whackmaster, i do have a dual fuel lantern but i have never been brave enough to try unleaded fuel in it, i have had those kinds of lanterns to malfunction and leak before, I am terrified of an explosion, plus, i dont wanna be carrying a gallon of stinky gas around in my car. I do like the lantern though when i use it with the coleman fuel, but as i mentioned, almost 9 bucks a gallon now, however thanks for your input. Chill, you are right, i need a sufficient amount of light. One man use to run a generator and light it up with spotlights, he passed away though. However I dont have a truck to haul whats needed for that and cant afford to invest in a generator. When gas hits 5 bucks a gallon I will have to quit fishing. RajinCajun, what is a 12 volt trouble light and do you just plug it into a dc plug, where can you get one at and how much operation if you used it by the hour do you think you could get out of it? My idea of a drop light off the battery pack will not work. It says that it will only run it for an hour and a half. I need a little more time cause I like to stay out for a while. Thanks everyone for your help.

I have a boat fog light on front of my boat for running the lakes and river at night and also have a hand held Q-Beam spot/flood light 3,000,000 candlepower for the real dark nights.
For the lights to see the rods, I used a 6' x 1" pvc pipe and glued a T on top and mounted 2 shop lights. You can adjust the light to where you need it. I use 15w 12 volt light bulbs that you can get at a hardware store.
To mount them to the boat I have two 1'' floor flanges that I can screw the pipe into. One on the front and one on the side of the boat. I use the side flange if fishing along and point the lights to the front and if someone is with me I use the front flange and can adjust the lights for the front and back.
I ran a drop cord from the battery to the front of the boat and installed a house receptacle to plug in the light. Make the sure the cord form the light post is long enough to reach the receptacle.
The last picture is the light on the boat. Maybe this will help you out, Ronnie

Not trying to get off thread, but stump hunter that is an amazing rig!!
All I know is that (speaking from experience) Coleman's don't burn too long once they are dropped into the water....
duel fuel lanterns burn just fine with unleaded gas in them. I believe that I would sack up and use gas if there is that much of a price difference and all that is holding you back from fishing the way you want is the fear of a gas explosion.
Black lights attract bugs too. maybe not as bad but they still do attract bugs.
I bolted a piece of Uni Strut to a seat pedestal. At 1 time I had a Coleman propane accessory pole on that connected to a 20 gal propane tank, with a lantern on top. Now I have the trouble light setup as above on the unistrut. I use 50 watt RV bulbs not hard on the batterys at all.Get the light for the boat interior up high to cut down on bugs, also I mounted mine behind the cockpit so I am not blinded by reflected light when moving to another spot. For running I use a remote control Go Light, Pentabeam lets you see a long way off and cuts through mist better than the Qbeam, and is essentially hands free for driving. I do carry a Q beam for back up.
