I have two very heavy ancors so the boat movement won't be a bother.

I was just wondering if the fish are less active in 10 to 20 gusts of wind on any given day.

I am going to try every possible depth this time near some deep fallen logs and such. I'm going to also keep searching for those green worms at a different bait shop.

I'm 0 for 2 last two trips so maybe 3rd time is the charm.

I was under the impression you were fishing from the bank.

I believe wind does effect fishing, but it's not that the fish aren't biting. I think people don't like fishing the wind. Often times people find shelter from the wind and have to fish nonproductive areas. I like to fish on the shore that's catching all the wind.
Caught so many fish today my thumb is sore from clicking the counter.

I just fish from the bank wind blowing at me, I just switch to a heavier jig and cast out.

I have fish 25 mph winds before and they was still biting. Some weeks it is all winds in the 20 - 25 mph south winds, you either go or stay home the whole week. I usually go and try it out to see if they bite.

If the sun comes up, it's time to fish. All the rest are excuses.

Like foul hook said let the wind be your friend. Like achoring upwind of your target so you're casting downwind. Keep your boat into the wind with your trolling motor for more boat control when tightlineing or jiging. When trolling in a wind it also helps to position your rod tips as close to the water as posible.

It affects mine, fish from a boat 99% of the time, because if it is blowing 10 MPH or more I just don't go, I'm retired so can go whenever I won't too. It also effect my style of fishing as I spider rig and don't like my poles jumping around too much, don't think the fish quit biting they just can't find my jigs. That being said it also effect the fish to me, if it is no wind at all they seem to turn off for me. Just MHO.

When are you going to explain to the "noob", that bait shops don't usually carry "green worms" ... that you have to dig them out of the river bank :p

I'm assuming that you're referring to the "green" sand worms, that you find in the banks of rivers, where the sand/dirt/leaves are packed together.

You might also want to tell him, that : when broken, or when a hook is stuck in them, they exude a slime coat ... and they 'stink' :D
Also better tell him that he might get his arm, line, or pole broken ... cause them critters are some of the best bait for Catfish & Drum, that anyone could ever find.

Can't say as I've ever caught a Crappie on one ... but, I've caught my share of Channel Catfish, Freshwater Drum, and Hellbenders ( The Hellbender Homepage: What's a hellbender? ) ... out of the KY River, but that's where I dug them worms from, and where I fished with them.

    ... cp
