Another way that i found was by laying your rod across the gunnel while tightline fishing and getting a bite. A lot of time that fish will bounce that rod before he puts full pressure on it. That constant bouncing will weaken the blank too. Anybody ever get their rods caught under a bow eye and try to set the hook.

wiskers, I think you caught every fish in the north end of KY Lake. I was out there all afternoon and never got so much as a bump. I was casting a small jig under a bobber in areas where I could get half way out of the wind. Every point had a bass boat on it from the tourney. I talked to a couple of them and they weren't catching either. I couldn't find any water over 47 degrees. I thought the blacks would be moving in a bit with sun and 70 degrees.

I still enjoy eating a bass every now and then, just not one that big. Last one I cooked over 6 tasted like the bottom of the lake.

    Great catch!!

Kutter was in the boat with me all day. He turns 10 on Monday so I thought we would make it a special day. I turned him loose on a coot that was swimming around a cove we were in. He jumped out of the boat and chased the coot for about 200 yards till it got tired of the game. The fish weren't biting and some bass fishermen thought it was pretty funny to see him trying to catch the coot. We had a good time. I'm afraid he's shooting blanks in his old age. The last couple of breeding attempts he's been involved in have failed.

I'm pretty easy to get hold of since I spend about 70-80 hours a week in the studio. Give me a call. 703-7600 I'd love to hook up with you.

I have 2 Wm signature series 8 footers and 2 10 footers. I broke the tips off the 2 10's. Like I said, I broke the tips, being a hothead. I have no complaints with Walleys products.

Glad to see you have their number there in Possum Trot!

Beautiful fish. I fish 14-foot WM rods and have only GOOD things to say about them. They catch their share of nice hefty bass and big crappie...and the Spring hasn't even sprung yet. :D

Any you boys bad-mouthin' the WMS, I could use a couple o' 12-footers, so send 'em my way, how 'bout it.

    Thanks for sharin'.

You would have better served the bass in your lake and the sport of fishing had you harvested the 1- 2 pound fish and spared the 5+lbers to continue a good gene pool. Fish of that size are worth saving. Your boast of firing up the knife and such on fish like this speaks volumes.

That took longer than I thought.

32251, the fish that Wiskers put under the knife pales in comparison to the number of fish that size potentially killed by tournament anglers on our lakes any given weekend.

I worked the release boat for one of the circuits for several years once upon a time. I know how many dead bass there are at the end of a summer tournament being killed for money so spare me the propaganda.

Wiskers, since it looks like you know mrdux as well, we'll all have to get together one day for a fish sandwich. :D

Well I'll tell ya what. You come down here the next time they have a big tourny this summer & I'll take you out the next morning & you can dip up all the 3# to 6# fish you wanta see. I guarantee you the bass that I clean in a year is a meer drop in the bucket as to what I see floating in the marina after 1 tourny.

Last summer I made a sashshey around the banks of the marina after a big tourny and counted 41 floaters. I'm talk'n bout big fish too. Turtles had a field day. As far as the 1# & 2# bass... They probably got the same genes as the big boys they just ain't as old, same as me & my kids. Tell the pro's to limit their catch to those & see what they say. Why can they catch'um & kill'um and get cheers from the crowd and a big check, & I eat a couple & get a conservation speech? At least mine weren't wasted. Sparrrrrrrre me!

I have & will continue to clean every legel one I catch. I have opened them up & found up to 5" crappie in'um. They've managed this lake for bass while letting our crappie population go to heck!

Beside their great on the grill with a little garlic butter, & lemon pepper. :D

If it makes ya feel any better, I'll have to replace my blades after dulling them on those 2.

You have a lovely day now!
