I agree with canepole. i do think the #1 would much better with the crappie thunder. The #2 that they use on the crappie thunder seems to bunch too much. BIG BAIT BIG FISH!
I Have Used Both #4 And #2 They Both Work Well. I Use A #4 Most Of The Time Even Though I Like The Way The #2 Hooks Up With The Fish Better. I Use The #4 Because I Think The Jig Falls A Lot Slower With The #4. If I Went To A #1 I Would Be Afraid That The Jig Would Fall Faster Than I Like . I Guess A 1/32 Jig With A #1 Hook Would Fall About Like A 1/24 And A 1/24 With A #1 Would Fall About Like A 1/16 With A #4 Hook Would Be My Guess. A 1/16 With A #1 Would Fall To Fast I Would Think. But That Is Just My Thought I Am Not Sure About That. I Am Sure That Some Of The Jig Makes On Here Would Be Able To Give You A Better Fall Rate Comparison Than I Can. Maybe Some Of Them Will Chime In With Some Good Info.

I hope they are not to big...I just bought a thousand of them.
I use alot of size #4 and #2 on my crappie jigs but there's no rule that says you can't use a size 1 hook on a lighter head. That's the best thing about molding your own you can try different things and maybe get an advantage on your buddies!!!!!!!!!

I put a no.1 in most all my jigs. Even my 1/32 oz.
I use #2 hooks all the time open water fishing & catch all sizes. I also bend them open a little so I can pop the hook out by sliding my thumb in the gap of the hook. Probably the same as a #1 after I bend it.
I like the biger hook also, and I had some made with a longer shank..work great..
