danny the place your talking about is where i bought the map from
Besides loving to fish for crappies I also fish for smallies. When I fish Watts Bar in the winter I use lures that can catch smallies as well as crappies. Which is pretty much anything that'll catch crappies, but in particular its the only time I can seem to make RoadRunners do their thing. Slow roll a RR along the bottom and your gonna have some serious smallie action. I did really well with a black 16th oz RR head (actually a bps stump jumper because RR doesnt make black) tipped with a black and chartreuse tailed charlie brewers slider. It has absolutely killer action at slow speeds and has all the right colors. I caught more smallies on it than I did crappies.
You might also try rebel or koppers crayfish cranks, motor oil or black colored grubs or tubes in the 3-4 inch sizes. Pretty much any minnow imitating stick bait like rapala, yozuri, x-rap. You may also want to pick up some of the new small swimbaits, both soft plastic and hard. You also may want to try jigging spoons like the CC spoon, Hopkins shorty, Rattle snakie, Cabelas real image, BPS strata. I have done especially well with the CC spoons myself, but they wear out quickly. They are also the cheapest. I havn't used em myself yet but I've always thought Northland Buck-Shot Rattle Spoon would slay. Particularly the 3/8 and 1/2 oz sizes. Smallies like noise.
If I had to choose just one bait though, I'd choose the 3 inch fatheads below in ayu, sexy, chart, watermelon and tennessee. Those swimbaits will catch anything including crappies. I wish they would make that bait in a 2.5 inch. It would slay crappies.
