Years ago back up in upstate Ny we had a cottage on a small lake and used to fish it almost every day. We always fished around docks but if there were people fishing or even just on the docks we would skip that one. Once, a "Gentleman" came down near where we were fishing and started making "comments". We never touched his dock or anything but he was something! My son was with me and we moved off. He was a new owner, by the way. My son and his friends made themselves quite at home in front of his place the rest of the summer. Not me. My mother talked to his wife a little later and she explained that he was just an old jerk! I think dock fishing is a lot like icefishing or or even fishing in the boat. Socially, it isn't polite to get too close unless you are invited.
