fish for them in the thickest laydowns you can find. they will hold right up under the bank where it has been cut out. never caught any big ones out of the creek near my house, only small ones.
The problem with most W. Tenn creeks is that they are mud bottom. I have been to Springfield, Mo. and done this type of fishing but the creek bottoms are mostly rock based. and water clarity is a lot better. If you get over past the Tenn. River the waterways become more rock based...for instance the Buffalo River. You could find some places over there I'm sure but then you have the problem of "not being local". Would be a good drive to get there. The gravel bottom creeks that are more "suitable" for wading are just out of reach.

Hey Justin the creeks are getting good my way.
I am fishing creeks in the afternoon about 3 days a week after work.
It can be hot. It also can be slow and mosquito filled. I hav a couple of spots that were producing, but . . . . . . some local fisherpoacher (lol) have invaded my spot!!!!
They are dredging the harbor so things should be better after this year.
