How tight are you tightening the castlenut?
I replaced the wheel bearing in the right wheel on my Jon boat in spring 2007. Well, it is gone out again. This is the third time for the right wheel to malfunction. I can not see anything wrong. New bearings. Well greased, but not too much to blow seal. Spindle looks good. Has bearing buddies. I am not a mechanic, but I know how a wheel works. Well, I thought I did 'til this started happening.
Boat only pushed 100 foot to water to launch.
Suggestions???????????

Only one thing THAT can be, CP.
Bearing seal is leaking and water getting to the bearing.
What's the bearing look like after a clean up? Rusted?
After thinking about it though. Is the dust cap fitting properly? I mean, are you sure that's not leaking?

two things that get overlooked, a slightly bent wheel or a slightly bent axel. hows the tire wear on that wheel. bent wheel was my problem on the john boat trailer I had.
for the short distance that it travels to your home and to the waters edge there is something your overlooking, try if you can have someone look over your shoulder and see if all is well.
i would think the number one killer on bearings is friction, so either you have not enough grease or the wheel hub is set to tight
i have bearing buddies and didn't use them properly and had burned up a bearing also, now i always check them for the proper amount of grease
I think the bearing has fell apart. It is too windy to jack the trailer to remove it. Last time bearing was all to pieces. No rust..
I tightened the nut finger tight and wrench till carter holes first line up.
I will have to wait on weather to take it apart.
Cheap bearings? Last 2 sets said made in china. NAPA, Tractor supply.

One more possibility Checkthe length of the springs. I had that problem found out one spring was longer. They looked the same, put them side by side one was longer. Rearched them, all is good.
I was describing the last bearing replacement scenario.
I oughta make myself more clear I guess. Maybe 1 mile per year on the boat trailer. To water and back pushed with my Rhino.
