Ike is who you can blame on that price jump. It's hitting where a lot of refiners are and damage to them will make us short on supply.

Those that are experiencing this huge jump in gas prices may want to check with their state's attorney general's office and see what the law is on price gouging.

I read this morning that the refineries in the gulf are shut down in prep for Ike. But any jump of that magnitude is gouging. It went up 30 cents here overnight, and probably will jump more in the next few days. Nobody learned from Katrina obviously.
Report it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Believe me I did to my local station where I no longer go and he got busted big time.

Early in the week it was 3.65 here in Indiana. Now it's 3.99. If there are places charging 5.29......turn 'em in!!!
Hey...jerk...your bobber's under!!!
If I read correctly, wasnt there an over-supply of oil a week ago (because of the last time gasoline prices went sky high and people cut back on consumption) so drilling was slowed?!? During an over-supply of oil, the drilling rigs halted operations due to Ike and now, all of a sudden there is a shortage to make prices sky rocket at the pump?!? And the damages that hadnt occurred yet?--sorry, but this sounds like nothing but price gouging to me. Why dont someone with the power to stop this gouging step in and do something about it? It has happened before, right?!?:o Besides, what made everybody panic all of a sudden and run to the pumps 3 and 4 states over causing such an increase in gasoline prices? Arent most of the major gassoline companies still getting the majority of their crude from overseas anyway? I may be WAY off but just rambling out loud!
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
Actually, nothing has happened yet, except the newscasters(has anyone ever really looked at that word - newscaster/baitcasters) and oil speculators taking advantage of the country during a crisis. Since, maybe, its going to happen, an interruption to the gas supply, its a great excuse for them to gouge us again for a couple months regardless of what the supplies are and what damage the storm creates. Thier costs didn't go up today, they went down, so what they are doing by raising the prices is pure preemptive gouging. Are we surprised? I'm not. I've been saying the speculators are rubbing their hands together in glee watching this storm, and since this may be the last hurricane of the season, they will surely take full advantage of it and us.
Good things come to those who bait.
