I did a crappie fishing DVD for LakeShelbyvilleGuide (Steve Welch). To make the DVD, I used a Sony DCR-TRV 103 Digital Handycam, and a much less expensive Sony Mini DV camcorder and got similar results with both camcorders. I upload both camcorders by firewire into my Sony Vaio computer which came with movie editing software and was designed for media applications. I added Sony's Screenblast Movie Editing software but most newer computers come with Microsoft's Window Movie Making software, an adequate movie editing software. I think just about anyone with a camcorder, a computer, and enough patience can edit a movie. I recently invested in a AIPTEK Digital Recorder camcorder that does not use tape, it records everything on a computer chip. The AIPTEK only cost a little over $100 at Sears, records in High Definition, fits into a shirt pocket, and comes with all the hardware to hook into any computer or TV. I run mine into a USB port. It isn't great but it is adequate. If I were going to buy a new camcorder, I would certainly by buy one that records digitally, the tapes are a hassle. The future is recording digitally with no tapes. I use a tri-pod as much as possible, they make for a much better picture. I also use a 500 gigabite external hard drive, movies use a lot of space on a hard drive. External hard drives are not expensive.
I don't know why Steve hasn't posted about his video on the main board, he has posted about it on the Illinois board. Steve is a very accomplished crappie fisherman, writer, seminar speaker, and Crappie Tournament winner. Of course, he was handicapped by having me as a videographer and editor but I feel I didn't do too bad of a job. I have been making, editing, and marketing videos of my hunting dogs for well over 25 years. I started out using a big VHS camcorder. The modern stuff that hooks into a computer is much easier and better.

I hope you folks don't think I am trying to hijack your thread, I thought I would add something to it.

Get a hard drive cam corder. Get a small power inverter (75 watts). Get a tripod. Make a movie. You can record all day and night with this setup (depending on the HDD size). Spend that money.

You can upload via usb to computer from the camcorder. I use Windows movie maker to edit or Video Studio to edit. Depends on how much detail in the flick I desire. Both are easy editors.

Jerry I would love to see this DVD and know it will add to my success since this is one method I am not strong at and when you can add to an already successful fishing time it can only help.

Don't really care about some other DVDs like C & C, but fishing standing timber can only help on a lake like Toledo Bend.

    Looking forward to it,

Filming and audio are excellent quality. The information provided and the secrets and hints provided are numerous and quality information. This should work on any lake with hardwoods and makes you think and eliminate water.
Well worth the cost of the video.

I am looking forward to this Fall/Winter's Trolling video.

    Thanks for the Quality Jerry,
