Daryl - There has been some discussion already on these reels. Go to the very top of the page and where is says "Search" type in Zebco Slabseeker and hit "go."

Yeah there have been quite a few negative experiences with them. I have two, but have not had the opportunity to fish them extensively.

I used one this morning. They work great for me slow trolling. I set it on the first fish and keep it at that depth as long as i'm fishing that brushpile. I got 6 off the one pile today. When i move to a different pile, i reset it and start over.

I read in the current Crappie magazine, about one of the guides out west, Oklahoma I believe, using them. His name was in two of the articles.

I have had a negative experience with one for sure....I actually bought 6 of them about 2 months ago and pulled off the line that came on them and re-spooled them with the line I like then went out to try them out.....well on the FIRST fish I caught on one, I flipped the pin into place and began reeling it up....at which time the plastic pin broke. My first impression upon opening the box and re-spooling the line was that they appeared to be pretty cheap looking.....but, I wanted to use them first before making an opinion, I didn't buy it for the quality reel so I expected a little bit less on the quality considering the idea behind the reel.....but, my gut instinct was right and I broke it on my first fish.....that MIGHT have been a 1.25 lb fish....so, it wasn't huge.

Anyhow....I still kept one and returned the 5 others I had....I am not very happy with the product myself.
I won't be at work........I'm feelin' crappie today!
