You really want to draw crappie to a spot, build a condo and sink it.

The baitfish eat the hay or the algea that grows on it, not sure which, so starts the chain.

When we were kids my friend and I used to take a carp or other large fish and tie him to an overhanging tree. The flies will show up, then the maggots. When the wind blows the maggots will just drop off in the water and bait your hole for you. Smells a bit fishy, but it does work.
Caught so many fish today my thumb is sore from clicking the counter.

We used to cut a small hole in bag and sink it, it will come out real slow and the fish will eat it. Dont put it in til you leave , then come back the next day and fish, they will be there. We put it in while we were fishing one time and the fish filled up on the rice and quite biting. The fish we did catch were blowed up with rice.:D Have not tried it in about ten years, now. That was went we didn't know how to catch Mr. crappie. Or where to find him.

Sounds like a great plan, but I am sure the gators would love a tasty snack!
