Thanks Pete for your added buckeye info. Like Pete said the 2 lakes that have the 9 inch limits have turned a 180 in the past 5 years. Our biologist, don't know if they even have them on the payroll. I know they run fish surveys but never what to hear what we think. We have had petition after petition sent and they never seem tom listen.

I know on green river a bunch of musky guide's went to our commissioner complaining about fishing at the state dock area. They wanted it banned in that certain cove from december to may.Man can you wear them out there too.Well the commissioner did not listen to them thank goodness. Those same guide's still fish there with their client's but dont want anyone else to fish there. If those guide's were the only one's buying a license their wouldnt be any musky to start with.I still believe in democracy,if enough of you complain something will be done.Until then enjoy what you have.

Good point. I fish 100+ days a year, if I kept 5-10 a trip it would be more than the guys that fish 2 weeks a year. Never thought of it that way..

If that dont work get a bunch of your Ohio buddie's and write a letter to your commisioner with your concern's about the size and creel limit's.I would suggest not complaining about a religious organization, just your concern's about fishing.

Just for your info slipcork, I fish at least 100 days a year and probably more. I fish for crappie, bass, saugeye, and anything else that I feel like that particular day. You seem to mis understand the limit deal....THERE IS NONE !!! There also is no size limit. It's not just the Amish, and they fish more than just 2 week's, it's just that it's from daylight to dark for that 2 week's. To answer your question on how many I keep, there's just the wife and I so I keep enough for about a dozen meals a year. I do not feed friends, neighbors, or fire department fish fry's. I keep what I can use and put the rest back. Everyone has the right to keep what they catch within the law and as long as they feel justified so be it. I guess since the state doesn't care, why should I. The biggest thing I tried to get across was our lakes are small and can be hurt very easily and they are being hurt., No matter what we tell the state, other than the two lakes that do have a size limit, they do nothing. If limits and size limits don't work, why do the best southern and mid-western lakes all, or at least most, have them ??

I would like to see a 10" minimum in SC. It's my personal minimum but depending on how the fishing is going I'll let the 10" ones go as well. Just not enough meat on them much smaller than that for me to want to fool with. Probably the same reason I rarely keep bream.

To keep the big slabs for breeding. What do you guys think about this?

As the owner of a toon, I promise we have never been able to slaughter any type of fish. But we will continue to try. jesse

You're not going to use that HATCHET are you? I do feel your frustration, and the lack of effort on behalf of Ohio Fish & Wildlife.Im sure the amish dont think like alot of fishermen and women do.I dont think they are to blame though.I am very curious to know the exact reason given by OF&W why no size or creel limit's are in place. While you and I dont think alike on this issue I'll bet we do on alot of other issues.Good luck and catch a bunch.

Got in the tail end of this one but my home lake has a 10" length limit with a 20 fish creel put in place about 5 years ago. It has done wonders for this lake. This week I caught my biggest fish of the year there. This year has been our best year with regards to size of fish. We are close to KC and the crappie get hammered when they hit the banks. Thousands come out at a time but for the first time I am starting to see the little one's go back. It use to be if it got caught it was kep by a segment of fisherman. For us I love it and it has been a great thing. Just my 2 cents.
It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D

I don't know 20 people I would want to fish with anytime! You talk about the proverbial Chinese Fire Drill!
