Growing up in WI I fished all the time. That was what I enjoyed and I fished for just about anything. Then I came down to Georgia and rarely did it anymore. I decided to hunt deer more since the season is so long. Every time I was driving down the road and saw someone pulling a boat headed to the water I felt like I was missing out on something. About 5 years ago my wife and I decided to buy a boat. I don't regret it for one second. I have since increased my inventory of tackle. It has gotten to the point that I would rather fish than hunt. This year I didn't join the hunting club I have been a member of for ten years. I told my wife we will just fish more in the fall, which she is all for. I will still hunt, but that will be limited to my trip I make to WI each November.
I love to catch fish, but I can honestly say some of my most memorable fishing outings have been those where we caught few, if any fish.
Brings to mind something that happened to me a few years back.
On the way to the lake, I told my fishin' partner that most of the time I didn't really care whether I caught fish or not. I just enjoy getting out on the water and seeing the wildlife and soaking up the silence.
We spent 6 solid hours on the lake that day without a nibble. We threw everything in the tackle box at them including live bait. I told him that if he ever heard me say that again, smack me! :D
It's frustrating when you don't catch anything, but either way, you go home a little less stressed.
If you are a veteran or active military, THANK YOU.
