Is Arkansas too far to go? If not, you might check out Bull Shoals Lake in the NE part of the state near the Missouri border. My dad and I used to make a trip out there once a year growing up. We'd fish the White River for trout one day. They have some great browns there. Then we'd fish the lake on the next day for crappie and bluegill. We always did really well. Big fat crappie and monster bluegill. It's a beautiful Ozark lake. There were cabins and hotels. We always stayed in the hotel on the lake.

Check out Pickwick lake down around Iuka Miss. They have several state parks right on the lake with cabins and or hotel.

    Default Bull Shoals

Yep I have to agree Bull Shoals wouldn't be a bad choice either. My wife and I went there for our HONEYMOON. If you can't tell my wife likes to fish as much or more than I do. That was a long time ago. We caught trout, crappie, white bass, bluegill and even a 4# walleye. BEAUTIFUL area. I don't remember the resort but prices were very reasonable and it was in an area called the promised land or something. And they have no skeeters (mosquitos). Man it don't get much better than that.
Crappie spawning and morels popping up at the same time. What was God thinking when he made that schedule. It's pure torture every spring deciding which to do.

With gas prices and other cost i,d suggest you take your boat and go to Patoka Lake, it has camp grounds ,cabins a beach for swiming and close to you

I knew you'd say that Ken. LOL If I go here in the state it better be really good. She would think I didn't give much thought to it. But if by some fluke of nature I was to qualify for Nationals this year. I'll probably wind up at Patoka. That's why I am planning a vacation somewhere else. It would be a fluke for me to qualify.

I have to be careful not to screw this up. Then she'll be back to planning things and the fishing vacations will be out. It's a fine line I'm walking here. I have to do some research before I choose.

Papermouth Legend I would recommend Arkansas too. Their crappie are soooooo much bigger than are here in Indiana very nice place. Me and Wife been their the last 4 years very nice and clean. Look up Lake Greeson southwest of Hot Springs. Also their so much other things to do like a diamond mine keep what you find. Also look up Self Creek marina super nice cabins. Also Jerry Blake is a crappie guide in that area he will put you on crappie also Darryl Morris does crappie guides service their also. Good Luck!!!!

Diamond mines??? That's a new one to me. Thank God I have a wife that doesn't like jewelry, but she does like $$$$. That's a good idea Greg. Thanks I'll look into it.
