Are you talking about the manual type or the 12v type? I have the 12v type and love it. Will post pics if this is what you are talking about>

I guess nobody uses the original manual anchormates anylonger?? or can help a guy with some pic ideals!
mine mounted up front on the side of boat with eye bolts for the rope guides going to the back of the boat to the anchor.i the drum holds about 80' of 3/8 rope. john
Here's how I did it on my old boat
Had one for 10 years NIB and never mounted it lol
I used the 3/16" as indicated in the information that came with the Anchormate when I purchased it many years ago.
Hers a couple pics of mine.. hope they come out ok. Hope this helps you..
Had one for years. Mount the release/handle near where you'll be when you want to let go. For me, that was near the throttle. I'd watch my sonar, come up on what I wanted to fish, and anchor nearby, depending on the wind. Make sure you leave enough clearance on all sides of the handle to actually use the winding mechanism!! They ususally give you several pulleys that you mount an inch or two below the top rail and you can buy more if you need them; if you're mounting the anchor hood near the bow, put at least one pulley at the curve of the bow (in a 14' boat, that's probably 4-6 feet from the bow). I'd mount the hood first, then the pulley just below the hood to see how far it hangs, then put in the rest, including the handle. That should allow you to align the whole thing properly.
