I'm impressed. Nothing speaks to me more than customer service. They reallized their mistake and want to make it right.
Now that they are on the forum, they see how many customers it can affect. All this technology in the world should make stores be on their toes. It don't take long for a ticked off customer to get the word out.

I think they should give you a gift card for about 25.00 to cover your gas and time changing out the batteries. Thats the least they could do.
