    Lightbulb Hey Redtick ...

'Ol Laughing boy (Jimmy Houston) has been sponsored by Blakemore for a long time .... and he uses Roadrunners (or "Runroaders" as he calls them, sometimes) a lot, especially when Crappie fishing. He's about the only person I've ever seen use a Roadrunner to vertical jig with ... well, except for the one time I saw "Killer Palmer" do it  ...LOL!!
I've used Roadrunners for over 25yrs, for Crappie fishing ... and have been quite successful with them. Heck, it might have even been 'ol Jimmy that turned me on to them, in the first place ...LOL!!

I saw that show - with the old guy using a fly rod and "flipping" with it - but, never actually heard if "he" was using a Roadrunner, or not. He probably was, though ... being as how it was Jimmy's show (sponsored by Blakemore) and even though he was "guiding" Jimmy on that lake. TV Anglers don't take too kindly being shown up by a guest using a competitors bait ....LOL!! (and the Sponsors don't dig it much, either !!) ....................cp

What we need is for Crappie. Com to start it's own tv show featuring nothing but crappie fishing. 30 minutes of crappie tips and tactics for spring, summer, fall and winter. I'd gladly volunteer myself to research the idea, lol.

Please go for it Brad!!!!!!!! I do not realy think for a minute that crappie fishing is the 3rd most popular game fish after green carp and catfish. I bet with the literaly thousands of hours of fishing shows a year on the different outdoor tv networks there is not 10 hours dedicated to crappie fishing. Guess I need to start mining gold. Heck theres 20 hours a week dedicated to that.

Fishing and gold mining have very parrallel and similar characteristics.
Never panned for gold but thought it would be fun to try especially on the days it is so windy one wouldn't want to be on the water. At least you would be outside for either activity.

I believe The Outdoor Channel would put on any show that has good enough sponsors to pay for the air time. So, if folks wanted a Crappie Show, all that is needed is some sponsorship and some good crappie video. I plan on taking my camcorder with me when I am fishing with some of the local crappie fishermen. I do several hunting dog videos already, crappie videos should not be much of a problem. If others would do the same thing and we could line up sponsors, a crappie show could become a reality.

You hit that one right! Sponsorship is the key. You would not believe how much it takes to air one program on the OC or OLN. I have been very lucky to get Midwest Crappie on the Sportsman Channel and other local stations. I have great sponsors which makes everything possible. AND, you all are right, I think more people crappie fish than any other species. The response that I receive shows it. FOLKS LOVE CRAPPIE FISHING!!!!!

    GOOD FISHIN!!!!

I called JM & Associates ( Jerry McKinnis the fishin hole) here in Little Rock to ask them why there is not any more crappie fishing shows. I have yet to get a call back but will post the response when I get one.
One thing I did do is go to the outdoor channel web site and send them a note thanking them for having at least some crappie fishing on there show. I would think that if all the guys on this message board do the same it could get them thinking about putting a show on for us. At least they might give one of the TV fisherman a box of jigs and a camera and tell them to film us a crappie fishing show. I am just getting board watching these guys catch green carp, kill turkeys and mine for gold.
