Great looking rig. How far between the Bugger and the Jig?

Ship, what is the distance from the wooly bugger to the jig? I am going to give your rig a shot on my local lakes.

We used to use a rig like that all the time fishing the jetties on the east coast for stripers and weakfish (sea trout). Often, we'd catch more on the teaser than the plug. Guess it works for crappie too. Thanks Ship.

This is great under a slip float at all depths 2 feet or more.

Usually about 6-10 inches. It makes the teaser stand out more than at a further distance from the weight. (Drop shot style) I also love the contrasting dark colors of the wooly bugger and the brighter chartreuses and pinks I use for the crappies. I promise you will catch more than crappies on this setup. The wooly is a wet streamer fly that not only imitates baitfies, but leeches, bugs etc. I just like the combination of teasing them and attracting them two differing ways.

You are right. Just change the #4 crappie hook to a #8 Bream Hook that is tied up in a Wooly. You could even tip the Wooly with a Waxie for some added scent.
