You can sometimes be off by a foot or 2 in any direction and catch NADA!
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

I was standing beside my uncle last weekend and he was catching and I wasn't. I was using an identical jig, and he was encouraging me to put it right in front of him (he felt sorry for me). He even held his jig up so I could get my depth exactly right. Obviously I wasn't holding your mouth right!

I find in the winter here at home people troll too fast and are not at the right depth.

We fished a tournament in February with 24 teams. Most teams were trolling in the same areas we were. We caught our fish on the bottom in 36-40' water. Most teams were fishing 30-35'. They weren't deep enough. We also watched teams run off and leave us while trolling side by side.
We weighed 7 at 13.07# and second was 6.50#.

I agree with one rod or one side getting more bites. My tournament partner used to have a red reel that would catch the big fish in every tournament no matter where you put it!
