I really want to fish the Spring Fling. If only I hadn't made a commitment to shoot the Muzzy Classic bowfishing tournament at Guntersville that night

I wish the crappie tournaments did not require the fish to be weighed be kept alive. Then I could enter the tournaments in my canoe. I'd do it too. Man that would be awesome to win a tournament in a canoe!

Get yourself a large insulated cooler and hook up a water pump to recirculate the water and you would be set! Most livewells are not insulated, just thin pieces of plastic.

I fish basket hanging out the side until you finish fishing, then a cooler will be fine for transportation.

We use to use one of those large nylon clothes bags hanging over the side. It works well until you forget to bring it in when moving with the big motor.

Just get you a little basket to hang over the side and a 5 gallon pail to transport the fish to weigh-in.....

It's kinda funny. From where my house sits I have a clear view of one of the landings often used for tournaments. I've noticed that when there is a bass tournament all the boats that "blast off" look the same, just different colors. It's a whole different deal with the crappie tournaments. First off there's not quite so much "blast" goin on and you'll see all different kinds of boats, most without a metalflake paint job I did see 2 guys in a square back canoe with a small outboard fishing the Southern Crappie Assn tournament earlier this year. Watched em catch 2 crappies.
    One taste of the bait
is worth the pain of the hook

HUGE difference in the Bass vs. Crappie tournaments....not even mentioning the people involved!

Default No Blast offs in crappie tournaments!

There is no blast offs for since you can be on the water anytime you wish, just cant start before a certain time. One nice thing about CAST, CrappieMasters, and CrappieUSA tournaments. Our club tournaments are like bass tournament, everyone takes off at the same time. Quite a fun deal with boats going each direction. Especially when they head the same direction you are, makes you wonder if they are headed to the same spot.

There is a spot on Truman Lake, if anyone is familar with it. Lots of bass tournaments go out of Bucksaw ramp. As you head down the lake there is a very narrow gap that you can use a short cut if you know the spot. It will cut about 5-10 minutes of your run. What is funny is some boats will fast idle through the spot, others try to run full tilt. Some near crashs happen at this spot, and it happens almost the same time every saturday morning during the summer.
