I fished for trout in Utah last month. It was 11 degrees in the morning when we started, peaked at around 22 degrees, and then finished off at 19.

BTW, we were wading! The water temp was 40! I was dressed well but was pretty cold by the end of the day.

For years my neighbor thought I deer hunted on an island somewhere because I would leave out with the boat about 30 minutes before her husband left for his deer camp in the mornings. After I explained that I was crappie fishing she turned to her husband and said " OK...honey, your not the craziest man I know !!" LOL

When you can't anchor up cause the rope is frozen...It's a WRAP.

It's never to cold, provided the wind isn't accompanying the cold. You just have to dress for it. I''ve had ice freeze at the end of my rod tips before bud didn't let it deter me. Found that putting a little vasoline in the rod eye's keeps the ice from forming.

When I was young and wanted to fish more than use my brains I tried some 17 degree temps bass fishing. Didn't get a bite one! Got to say it was really bad and had to stick my rod in the water every few cast to get the ice out of the eyes. Not fun at all.

Not to mention running the boat at that temp is amazing how bad it can be.

Now that I am older that will not happen again for sure!

When the boat is frozen to the trailer, it's not too cold it just takes longer to unload! Had that happen a few times this winter.
