This is not just pointed at Ship (just attached to his post). IMHO
Being new to the site....curious to know if there are moderators..I assume they can move threads around to their appropriate area if its a huge issue. Just my 2 cents

By the way.....Great lookin jigs !!!

Sure they can. But IMO this isn't a "buy my jigs, here's some pictures of them" thread. It's a how do you like these jigs, with an "oh, hey, I sell these, too, so if you're looking for some, let me know if you want any" type of deal.
My .02 cents. It's not like it you have to click on the thread and read it anyway.

Ship is a wealth of information.
I would venture to say that all the active jig sellers provide a great service to anyone trying jig tying on their own by showing their color schemes and different tying techniques. I would not have known about many of the products that are used in different parts of the country without people showing their wares on crappie. com. I think the viewers should let the moderators do their (HIGHLY PAID?????) jobs and moderate and the viewers can skip the posting if it is not something they want to look at. Besides jigs, how many of us have viewed an assortment of videos, dvd's, and other items (rods, reels, nets) which benefit everyone not just a few.

Keep up the good work, Ship, Skip, and the many other fine people.

    Regards,
    Mud-Dabber

Why can't they say that on the "Swap Meet - Classified Ads" board? Everybody else with something to sell posts there.

IMO, all these "hey, look at my jigs" posts are just thinly-veiled advertisements. I'm certainly not against anybody making a buck here, but there is an entire sub-board devoted to nothing but selling.

Plus, everybody who sells jigs has their website in their signature. You're always just a mouse click away from seeing his entire inventory.

Not clicking on the thread is an option; I never read *all* of the posts.
Ship ain't the first to do this (like he said..). Ship's a good guy and teacher.
Guides do it too with "today's catch".
    Moderators do it too!!
Yes there are sections devoted to topics, and should be used.
Yes many of the signatures are prominent. Sometimes over-prominent for me.
*All* forum's on the internet have off-topic posts to endure.
    Moderator's call in the end.

personally, I never go to the classified section and I wouldn't have known that Electric Chicken ever existed if he hadn't posted it!:D I WILL be ordering some of those! I think that sometimes the guys that make a living at what they love are the ones that have the most knowledge, helpful tips, and general info. And on occassion develope a new product they are so jacked up about they want their buddies to know about it. I would assume he thinks of you guys as buddies. In addition to that, he asked for critisizm so he could make them better. I see nothing wrong with that.

I never can get over the issue that you don't have to click on it!!! If you dont want to see it, dont click on it. It wont be in your email box either if you dont clik on it. It's no different than not watching a certain channel if I don't like whats on it. I dont try to get it banned.

Spam is one thing, and it has no place here, but what he did wasn't spam. It was just a guy wanting to show off what he does to guys that he knows will appreciate it and maybe get some suggestions to better them in the process. Just my 2 cents

Cause at the end of the day...it's just not that big of a deal. No one asked you to read the thread. He was asking what do you think about the jigs. Thinly-veiled advertisements...sure. That's part of business and getting orders. Not everyone reads the selling board. Lots of decisions to buy jigs are spur of the moment, its not like buying a $1200 HDTV that you need to shop around and you're the one that has to make the decision.
I sell jigs and don't have my website in my signature. Will I add it? Sure, but sometime in the future when I make a small clickable banner that doesn't get in the way of loading times or stretch the page. I'm on dial up so I'm very aware of how frequent changing of signature pictures or large pictures take to load and get on peoples nerves.
    Just my .02 again.

I want to thank everyone for their comments and I really appreciate them both pro and con. If I have offended anyone by posting a picture of my jigs, I am sorry. As others have said, I am not the first to post a picture of their jigs and/or product/service.

I see guides who frequently post pictures of "great catches" , I see jighead makers who"talk about their jigheads" and I see individuals who post pictures of their jigs everyday. I am not trying to step on anyone's toes but I am just stating the facts.

I believe that my input on these forums has been invaluable to some indiviuals who are just learning our sport. I try and keep things positive and to be helpful to others on this board. Having said that, if you still have a problem with this post and did not accept my apology, then I invite you to bring this to the attention of Ed or Pappy, or whosoever you wish.

Lets just level the playing field once and for all. We cannot have "Priviledges" for some and not for all. For my friends and well wishers on this board I thank you and God bless you.
