Nice mess of fish. Got be on the water and have a bait in.
It was tough day on the water yesterday with typical "post-cold-front" conditions including 15 - 20-mph sustained winds with gusts up to 30-mph.
We were able to fish out of the wind in several places but couldn't find many decent crappie looking for a boat ride. Finally about 45-minutes before sundown the wind eased up enough that we could fish the area we've been catching the good crappie lately.
The first one we caught there was 16.75-inches long and weighed 2-pounds, 8-ounces. We caught another one there that was 1-pound, 14-ounces and several more of our better fish for the day:
So, don't let anyone tell you that you can't catch a mess of crappie right after a major cold front passes through. The bite was definitely light and we had to fish slow and right down in the cover with small minnows and jigs tipped with very small minnows to get the better fish to bite but we hung in there and got-r-done.

Today is a great day
Good lookin' crew there. And some Whopper fish! Can't handle that wind, though....nope. Not me.

One nice thing about Lake Greeson is that it is surrounded by hills and there are a lot of places where the banks go nearly straight up for 30-feet or more with deep water close to the bank. There's usually 50 to 60-feet tall Southern Pine trees on top of these banks. We've placed quite a few of our Bamboo Crappie Condos in these types of places specifically for getting out of the wind no matter what direction it's coming from so we always have places to fish that are protected. Unfortunately the fish aren't always as big or as cooperative in our "protected" areas as we would like them to be. I don't mind fishing in 8 to 10-mph winds but when it gets up around 12 to 15-mph and starts white-capping pretty good it's real hard to keep the bait where we want it and time to fish in some of our protected areas.
Wow! Very nice guys! I hate fishing in the wind ,but, I do,specally if you catch em like that!!!
Is that 2-8 going on the wall or did it go under the knife?

It would have went on my wall for sure. Nice Catch!!!
It went under the knife. We had two White Crappie today that went 2-2 and a 2-3. The 2-3 and a real purdy 1-14 Black Crappie are going on the wall:Originally Posted by Darryl Morris
