Anyone use a canoe for fishing? How do you have it rigged? any pics?
Because of my location i cannot have a trailered boat "The bronx". So over the winter i have been rigging up my 15.5 canoe. Just got my out riggers today, have my ishfinder mount comming soon. The setup is really perfect for me because i mainly fish small water and streams.

Before I got my boat I used a canoe. I caught a ton of fish off that canoe. I mainly just cast lures but whenever I moved around, I would troll a beetle spin off the back and did quite well. I did not have any special rod holders. I just put the rod down beside me and paddled. Its amazing how many fish you can catch when you are not zooming up and down the lake.
We have used canoes on small rivers here for years. They are great for shallow water were a boat won't go. Mostly cast for Bass while using a canoe here.

If you have arrived here by accident, I suggest panic!
I fished some this fall from my handmade canoe that I made at the Tennessee Boat School. A great one day husband/wife building project. 15 foot flat bottom wooden canoe.
2 guys, 2 hours, 25 hawg crappie fishing jigs in the Mississippi River single pole. It was awesome.

I have an Old Town Discovery 158 that i use all the time. Made some slip on wheels with a pvc frame so i can move it around easy, also use a trolling motor on it some times, also have a depth finder that i add to it. Am going to add a douple anchor rig when it warms up.
Sorry no pics.
I love paddling my 11yr old son around in a canoe while he learns to flyfish. You can keep the boat the correct distance from the weedline and he does not have to deal with excess line while learning to cast.
Used to use a canoe for fishing as a kid and it was a blast!!! I may just have to buy one and rig it up for gettin into those hard to reach places. Luv all the great ideas and great website links!!!!!
IF YOU'RE FISHIN ON CREDIT, YOU'D BETTER SWITCH TO DEBIT!!!
