    It takes about 150 lbs to hold them down. I've tried less and had to run to the bank and get some big chunk rocks to throw on. By the time you get there, the bed has drifted off of the site where you want it.
    The only way to have a good fishing spot is to make it yourself!

    I'm sure both will produce for you but the one off the bottom will give more (depending on location of course) especially when they want to hold close to the bottom and under something. Every time I put my camera down and find crappie, I almost always see them hang out under a branch, limb or something. I believe that is one of the many reasons our bamboo condos work so well. They are fanned out (inverted cone) when first built, but when the leaves fall off and becomes laden with alge the stalks droop and form a canopy for the crappie to get under.
