    You cant beat a good Old Timer or Uncle Henry. Getting hard to find. Schrade closed down around 2 years ago now so they dont make them anymore. One of the best knives you can get though is a Moremaker. They are designed by a guy 30 miles from here in a town called Matador, Texas. They sell them at our Lumber yard here. They range from around $25.00 to over $60.00 and I tell you what their worth every penny. He also designs some of the VERY best fencing pliers you can buy. Here is the link to the website: http://www.mooremaker.com/

    I've had 2 of these, 25OT, for going on 40 years now. They hold the best edge of any knife that I've ever had. Most people think the model is 250 T, but it's really 25 OT, 25 old timer.. It's a rather thin blade and it cuts like a fillet knife, like a razor blade.

    Going by this one it looks like they may be back to making them in SS..

    I'm still a daily carrier of knives even though its not PC anymore. I personally like Gerber LST Ultralight, Plain. I know its not a traditional 2 blade pocket knife, but it's hands down the best no weight, low cost pocket knife I have ever used. You just can't tell its in your pocket and it has a premium blade thats comes and stays super sharp, and a tight smooth action. If you look around its findable at only 10-12 bucks, and its made in the USA. A very rare thing with knives.

    If you have to have a more traditional knife I'd go with the Boker Classic Dual Bladed Knife with Rosewood Handle. Its a FINE knife with premium steel. I don't think you'll find a finer knife for the price anywhere. Its a life long pocket knife if well cared for no doubt.

    You cant go wrong with anything by gerber, boker, benchmade, kershaw, and al mar.

    If you want a combo old time looks/modern single blade lock try this excellent benchmade. http://www.bladeconnection.com/shopexd.asp?id=85244

    The very first real paycheck I ever earned I ran down to the knife shop and bought an Al Mar very similar to this one for the whole thing. $50. I have it to this day and its a classic. I'll also have my first paycheck I ever earned to the day I die. A pretty cool thing. Same nice finely crafted leather pouch. http://www.bladeconnection.com/shopexd.asp?id=84726 Dollar for dollar I think Al Mar makes the best knife in the world.

    You could go nuts and get him something like this. Then he'd have something to brag about to his buddies for the rest of his life. http://www.bladeconnection.com/shopexd.asp?id=2977 http://www.bladeconnection.com/shope...photo=7&size=n

    Knives are fun!!

    Check out Smokey Mountain Knifeworks @ www.eknifeworks.com , a "crack house" for knife lovers. The Frost brand is pretty good inexpensive knife, holds an edge really well.

    whatever you do please buy American made. I would suggest a Case trapper if you want to buy him a knife that is good quality and one he will be pleased with.

    Almost forgot to add this;

    Instead of picking up the new pocket knife at Walmart it may be a good idea to get it at your local family run hardware store.
