I have a 2002 TB and pull a 18ft Spectrum with a 75 hp on it. I have a lot of extra equipment in it and it handles it just fine. The TB is made for pulling and does a very good job of doing just that. It has plenty of power and will handle a pretty big rig. It has 4 wheel disc brake and will stop about any boat that you would pull with it. It has a short turning radius and I really like that. Most of the time I pull the boat with a 2000 Chevy Crew cab 2500. Especially if I go on longer trips. The truck has a better ride than the TB. As far as crawling through it to get to the boat. I tie a rope on the boat and to the back of the TB and leave some slack in it and then back down and float the boat off and pull forward and then get out and unhook the rope and tie the boat off.

For What Its Worth My 2006 Tb With The Straight 6 Pulls As Good As My F150 With The V8. The Tb Gets 16 Mpg Around Town. The Thing Makes Somewhere Around 290 Hp. Pretty Good Ride As Well. Cant See Out Of The Back As Good As The Pick Up Though.

Always had been a big 4 wheel drive man driving both chevys and fords. For the past 5 or 6 years I've been driving a small toyota extended cab with a V-6. I pull a 16' Skiff/50 hp motor and would sell my boat and get a 19' but I know if I do I also have to buy a bigger truck. I loose some speed on hills but the truck still pulls the boat good enough and I wouldnt hesitate to go outa town with my rig. AND there aint no jumping out of the bed to the ramp either....just stepping over it.:D

Len if you are buying new, I would highly recommend test driving the new Toyota Tundra with the 5.7 V8. It runs 381 hp with 401 ft/lb of torque. I have one and I don't even know the boat is back there. It gets 17.4 mpg overall and pulling my boat I get 16.4 mpg. On the highway it gets between 22-26 mpg. Toyota's six speed automatic transmission is what causes this type of gas mileage even though it has 381 hp. You can put a tonneau cover made by UnderCover www.undercoverinfo.com on the back and it is like a SUV. It's brackets use the factory rail tracks and weighs only 58 lbs and takes on and off in one minute.
