Great pictures. Many states have a first fish award. You should snoop around your DNR/F&W to see if they have one. These are frame-able awards the child can hang on the wall. For example this is the Georgia First Fish Award.

Also some states have programs to introduce kids to fishing. Here in SC is SC Reel Kids. Children aged 6-16 can sign up for the program. They are given a series of fishing goals, 'go fishing at a state park','take three friends fishing', 'clean a fish'. Occasionally free tackle is given out as awards. At the end of the program the state has encouraged a child to become involved in fishing.Magically at that age they need a fishing license.

I wrote much of the software behind the SC DNR Reel Kids program.

But we should all be encouraging the next angling generation. I figure every time I take my nephew fishing it's an investment in his character.
