Never a dull adventure with "The Ketchn". Good it was a Rat not a Rattler, I had to do a double take on the post after seeing the picture.

Amdro - best ant killer out there. Use a grass seed spreader, cover the area you want them dead and watch the mounds disappear. heavy infestations take a couple of applications. Keeps my yards ant free all year. Sam's Club has the best price.

ants are not an issue at our place , the local critters likely eat them as snacks is my guess ....
kinda like roaches , none of them live in the way out there country either ....
it's a tough environment for sure ,rainfall is sketchy for years sometimes ....
and if anything , them biblical grasshoopers like flocks of locusts are pretty bad at times ....
they even go up in the pecan trees and eat the leaves and the pecans as well ....
and rattlers along with a few other things native to the area are long gone ....
humans killed all em off long ago and the hogs finished off whatever was smart enough to avoid the 2 legged snake killers ,,,,,just saying

That comment about the ants was for SuperDave. Texas has stuff that bites you, sticks you, or otherwise all around just hazardous. Get past the brown line, that hwy going north & south Stephenville is on . It's brown on the west side & green on the east side of the road. I never seen anything like it. Well if the Texas outdoors is in a brown part of the state us Green-landers need to be extra cautious. We are not used to looking out for all the harmful stuff you have to deal with.

Good fish, I’ll pass on the snake. I lived in Lawton , Oklahoma for ten months back in the seventies. I’d been raised in the east where it’s green. Most of the time it was brown and I didn’t care for it. I got my taxes back, put a clutch in the Plymouth I had and drove beck to Florida. I really missed the green. It’s a very different way of living out west.

Glad y’all had a KABOOM kinda day of it.

Skeetbum gets what I'm saying. We don't do well in all brown geography. Fun to visit, especially shooting White Wings south of San Antonio but I say too many undesirables around while doing that. Seems everything that crawls or slithers gathers around those tanks.

we are west of Stephenville at our country place and even on the way home still west of there at my friends place , we are not at the line where it turns to just catus, rocks and rattlesnakes and basically desert , that occurs a little bit west of us another 50 miles or so .....
one thing for certain about everything will sting you , bite you or poke a hole in you out there , some worse than others , but being aware of them helps some .....
cow killers and horse killers abound and both are nasty pcs. of flora and fauna in them parts , but there is a rather long list of not so fun stuff .....I particularly have a dislike for the big bull nettles myself , them are not fun for sure either
we have a number one rule at our country place if you visit ....PUT ON YOUR BOOTS before you step out of the truck please
