Default Lavender and pink maybe ?

Now mind you this , sometimes a bait strikes my fancy and sometimes it strikes the fish the same way.
had a Lavender and pink bait on lil red riding hood from last Friday.....
big fat body with a small light purple jighead , it rained ALL day Sunday here in Texas .....
We decided that we would be on a dock or not hit it at all ....
let me tell you this , the bite was BY FAR the softest I EVER encountered ....
I REALLY struggled to detect bites , a large number of the times it was a case of my line wandering VERY slowly away from me , or a VERY subtle pressure .
the first fish ketched me off guard , we had been there a few minutes and no "bites" is what we were telling each other ......
all the sudden I thought I had a slight resistance and set the hook hard ....
The rod bent down like I hung the bottom and the reel gave up a foot of line
and POOF it was gone ....told H that was for sure a bite and it was a big fish ....
of course he ha ha ha ha d me and I focused down REALLY tight to figure it out ....
the steady dripping of rain on me and the highly active spiders were really distracting , spiders and cold rain drops on the back of your neck make the capture of VERY light biting crappie a REALY serious challenge you know ...
to say we got rolling once we knew what was going on is an understatement , if or when I find them and figure them out , it is a problem for them in most cases that results in the losses of lots of lip tissue ....
yes we tried other colors that visit and some also did ok to good , I just liked the pink and the fish were dicey on straight up orange for some reason ?
best part was them post spawn crappie were running a bit better size than we typically see in that spot and we filled the ice chest up with a few and off we went on our rather wet feet to the house .....
and yes there is 3 kinds of rain....them there pouring down big flooding ones , them there steady medium soaking ones and that there light misting and small droplets soak you to the bone slowly kind ....this is fact
AND KABOOM is the word too
p.s. the water was rising FAST , but not terribly muddy , our mud part came back when the torrents began a week or so ago , most of the run off is pretty clear now and the fish are totally loving it ....another fact ....just saying
