Default When to change it up?

When trying to locate crappie from the bank when should I or how often should I change depth, colors and different types of plastics until I find a group of fish? Example: fishing 3' deep with bobby garland baby shad in chartreuse for lets say 10 casts and no bites, should I change depths, color or lets say switch to a curly tail etc or just up and move locations. Just trying to find the fastest way to get on fish from the bank. Thanks in advance!

That is a tough question. When I bank fished alot. I had learned from others that were successful in those areas. Then I branched out from there. Pherhaps if budget allows one of those castable fish finders could help you at least stay on to areas where the fish are holding. Can't catch them if they aren't there to see your bait. Also Slabsauce or any other attractant you choose may help increase your success rate.

after that many casts I start changing things up ,presentation speeds and movements first, depth is next, then size and color, I will also broaden the fan casts if I am targeting a not so specific area , if it is cover related I will make sure to hit all the areas available from the bank as well around it and close in on the cover tighter with my casts as well .
AND then if nothing happens my feet start moving me elsewhere .....

If possible I always have a couple rods rigged with different baits. This allows for different presentations fairly quickly. Plus what works at one location doesn't always work at another.

Location and depth matter way more IMO than color or type of plastic. Size of lure and type of jig probably come in tied for third & fourth with color after that, so dead last.
