Default BPS Panfish Elite Spinning Rod

Looking at buying a new panfish rod and noticed the BPS Panfish Elite. Do any of you have one and what length/power? I was thinking of getting the 72 light power.

I don’t have one of those but I have lots of others. What I wanted to mention referred to length. I fish a lot of close quarters and that long a rod wouldn’t get much use. If you’re bank fishing or fishing open water without trees and stuff then I believe you may like it. The strongest advice I like to give before buying any rod is to handle it first. Even better when you can hang the reel you’re going to use on it and see how it balances and feels overall. Some reels just don’t work on some rods, like putting a 10” steering wheel in a tractor trailer. I hope you find what you’re after, there’s dozens to check out.

I have the 7'2" medium light. It is a little bit on the light and whippy side. That is not a bad thing for the way I use it. I think it has plenty of strength, and I like the bend to keep a fish pinned once he is hooked. I would buy it again. Hope that helps you decide.

I have the BPS Micro Lite Graphite that I use for panfishing sometimes and really like it so far. I alternate between it and a Daiwa Presso. I’m betting the Panfish Elite is a solid rod. I also have my eye on a St Croix Panfish rod. Felt one in the store a few weeks ago and really liked it.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I primarily bank fish but have a pretty wide open area. I am not sure on the length but do have a 64 rod that I can use if I need something shorter.

I highly recommend a stiff pup from the bank , whippy rods and softer backbones are not the best for casts and hooksets, 7 is probably my favorite length off the bank , but some 8 footers are good for the bank venue as well ....
Shakespeare makes a pretty good 7 if you want to not incinerate your wallet ,,,,,just saying
and I run a ABU 7 that I am not totally sure of what model , but it is stiff and likely NOT called a crappie rod , but to be very sure it will really whoop crappie off the bank , mono stretches alot a distances and a solid hookset matters from way out there with a float on your line .

If you are looking for a budget minded all around crappie rod, the bass pro crappie maxx 6'6" Light action is my suggestion. It fishes closer to an UL, has a great bend, and is cheap. perfect bank fishing rod where you may have to set it down in rocks/mud and have to swing fish up on shore.

I have 5 green ones and one of the "pro" grey ones. All are great. I use them for loaning to others in the boat and bank fishing, along with float fishing.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I bought the BPS Panfish Elite in 72 LF. Looking forward to trying it out.
